Services
Proper eye care is important for people of all ages and regular eye exams are encouraged for everyone, but especially for those already using glasses or contact lenses. Your vision plays a vital role in your life each and every day, which is why it is so important to take the right steps for maintaining good eye health.
At Eyedare Optometric, we provide a variety of services, from general exams to corrective surgery. We also carry a wide selection of eye frames for our patients as well.
Our exams also measure how your eyes see, with both reading and wall charts. Based on your vision, our optometrists will recommend vision corrections such as traditional glasses, contact lenses, surgery, or other alternatives.
Conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy are often detected during regular eye exams. Early detection of these conditions allows for the widest range of treatment options and the best chance of slowing or reversing symptoms.

Dr. June Huang, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Huang is a Bay Area native and is a graduate from the New England College of Optometry. Her undergraduate degree is in Microbiology at the University of California at Davis. She worked at Eyedare Optometric from 2015 to 2017 before moving away. She recently moved back to the Bay in 2019 and purchased the office from Dr. Quan in 2023.
In addition to working at Eyedare, she is part of the California Optometric Association. She lives in San Francisco and enjoys spending time with her family, and exploring the Bay with her dog.
Carlos Robert Ortiz, LDO
Optical Manager
Carlos Robert grew up in Salinas in a large family. He studied pharmacy and opticianry. He is ABO-certified and has worked in the industry for over 10 years.
In his free time, Carlos Robert loves hanging out with his cats, friends, and family.

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, we accept new patients.
What insurances do you accept?
Currently, we accept most VSP and Eyemed plans. We also take UMR through Rainbow Grocery Co-op.
What is the cost of an eye exam without insurance?
Our cash pay price for an eye exam starts at $119. If you wear contacts, there is an extra fee, depending on the complexity of your contact lens fitting/evaluation.
What should I bring to my appointment?
If you are new, please bring in any glasses or contacts you may have. We can measure the glasses with our instruments, but will need a picture of the box or contact lenses to get the most information from them.
Will I get dilated at my appointment?
We recommend getting regular dilations with your eye exams and they are included in your eye exams. However, if you do not like the side effects of dilation, there is an alternative retinal imaging available. The retinal imaging typically costs $39, and sometimes is covered fully with certain insurances.
Is parking available nearby?
There is street parking, but sometimes finding parking can be tricky. We recommend taking public transport. Our closest BART station is 16th Street Station.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that emergencies can happen and that sometimes you feel unwell. Coming out of the 2020 lockdowns, we are still very vigilant about keeping our clients and office colleagues healthy. You can reschedule/cancel your appointment up to 3 times before we will no longer schedule you. There is no reschedule/cancellation fee.
What is your late policy?
We ask that you are not more than 10 minutes late to your appointment.
Why do I need an appointment to pick up my glasses/contacts?
It is highly recommended to schedule an appointment for glasses pick-ups, so we have the time to help you in case there is need for troubleshooting. While you can walk in during our open office hours, please note there might be a wait if our front office is busy.
What is your COVID policy?
There are air purifiers in the lobby and exam room. However, our office members have vulnerable family members so we still mask in the office. We require masks on patients in the exam room as it is a very small room and it does not get good ventilation. Patients and clients trying on glasses may opt to not wear masks.
